As one of the leading St. Emilion chateaus, Figeac wine is known for its high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon as well as aging potential. In the 1955 Classification of Saint-Emilion it was given a Premier Grand Cru Classe classification, and the estate is said to have exponentially improved since that time. Since 2010 the estate has been managed by Comte Eric d’Aramon and his wife, and today is one of the most sought-after Right Bank red wines. Thanks to the Medoc-like topsoil over flinty and iron-rich subsoil, the fruit is charged with layers and flavors that contribute to the unique and timeless wine profile of Chateau Figeac.
Château Figeac 1998 is a distinguished Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, celebrated for its unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, showcasing the estate's commitment to tradition since post-1947. This vintage is noted for its remarkable aging potential, with a structured profile that balances ripe black fruits with earthy nuances. The wine presents a complex nose of blackberry, cedar, and a hint of mocha. On the palate, it is round and smooth, revealing integrated tannins and a fresh acidity. The finish is refined, with lingering flavors of spice and leather. A testament to Figeac's style, it promises enjoyment now and for decades to come.
